About Roelof Nijholt
As a photographer who lives in a rural part of the Netherlands, my subjects and interests usually gravitate towards nature and landscapes, with an occasional dabble in other genres. Things started off during college, after buying a traditional Minolta film camera, to best capture and document my travels.Soon I became an early adopter of various digital camera's, then gradually improving and experimenting with different kinds of equipement.
I still enjoy travel photography a lot. The planning and preparation, the physical activity, the new and fresh scenery, and usually the unexpected events, which will challenge and inspire. And also the post-processing, perfecting the image as you've seen or envisioned it. In general I aim for a clean, uncluttered yet vivid look in my composition and editing, focusing on the essence of a scene. And sometimes with a twist, for example I enjoy subjects in nature which can be interpreted as human behavior.
This has pleasingly led to some corporate interest and work being featured in online contests, magazines and an international travel publication, but generally I've kept a low profile. Fine Art America allows me to present my work to a broader audience, and a chance to get some valuable feedback for further improvement. So I invite you to give your honest opinion!
Please contact me if you have any requests, and I'll do my best to meet your needs.
Best regards, Roelof
